One of the most valuable insights I gained from this course was my introduction to implementation science. I learned that implementing evidence-based practices is not a spontaneous or straightforward task but requires strategic planning and thoughtful execution (Bauer et al., 2015). The course emphasized that effective implementation involves understanding the context, engaging stakeholders, and addressing barriers to ensure that evidence-based practices translate into real-world improvements in health systems. This concept has shifted my perspective from viewing evidence informed decision-making as a passive process to recognizing it as an active, strategic process that requires collaboration, planning and management.

Throughout the course, I encountered challenges that tested my resilience and adaptability. One significant challenge was my feelings of being overwhelmed and frustrated by the breadth of economic and financial indicators in the field of health systems finance. Initially, I struggled with the complexity of these concepts and felt that I lacked the confidence to apply them meaningfully in assignments and activities. My attempts to enhance my understanding through additional courses from the Corporate Finance Institute sometimes added to my burden rather than alleviating it. This frustration was compounded by the realization that mastering these indicators requires time and continuous learning, which was a humbling experience (CFI Education Inc, 2024).

Despite these challenges, the course also offered transformative moments that have reshaped my career aspirations. One of the most significant revelations was the exposure to the professional field of health consultancy. I discovered that health consultancy offers a unique opportunity to merge my passion for research with practical, real-world applications outside of traditional academic and non-profit environments. The idea of leveraging research to drive improvements in health systems and contribute to policy development is an exciting prospect that aligns with my career goals.
